Spotlight on NPs is a weekly article that highlights exciting achievements and activities of American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) members.

AANP member Dr. Kahlil Demonbreun was named a Health Care Hero in nursing by the Charleston Regional Business Journal.  Congratulations to Dr. Demonbreun on this exciting recognition.  Read more.

Congratulations to AANP Fellow Dr. Mary Ellen Roberts, who received the 2014 Margaret C. Haley award  from Seton Hall University. The award is presented annually to a Seton Hall Nursing alumnus who has contributed significantly to the profession of nursing. Read the press release.

Dr. Juanita Flint, an AANP member and executive dean of Brookhaven College was featured in an article about hospitals and colleges stressing safe practices for health care providers, especially in light of recent Ebola infections.  Read more.

Congratulations to AANP Wyoming State Rep. and dean of the University of Wyoming, Mary Behrens, who was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Wyoming Nursing Association.  The award is given annually to one who has enjoyed a long career as a nurse in Wyoming, has shown commitment and dedication to the profession of nursing, has been an innovator and developer of programs and has served on boards and committees to advance the practice of nursing and health care in Wyoming. The award criteria also requires individuals who provide support through mentoring and role modeling for other nurses and who exemplifies the role of a nurse by exhibiting caring and professionalism. In an article about addressing a growing need for nurse practitioners, AANP member Patricia Meadows was pictured examining a child.  Houston’s Memorial Hermann held a panel discussion and conference to address the need for APRNs, including nurse practitioners.
