Congress is entering the final weeks of the 113th session. AANP is working hard to continue to build support for The Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act of 2013 (H.R. 2504/S. 1332) which would allow NPs to certify their patients’ eligibility for Medicare home health services, and we need your help!
Currently, NPs with patients who need home health care services must locate a physician who will document the NP’s assessment for this care. Further, even though NPs are authorized to perform a face-to-face assessment of the patient’s needs, they are required to have a physician document that the assessment has occurred. These delays in treatment jeopardize the health of the patient and cause the Medicare program to incur additional costs by requiring the participation of additional providers.
AANP calls on Members of Congress to support improving beneficiary access to home health care services by co-sponsoring H.R. 2504/S. 1332 the Home Health Care Planning Improvement Act of 2013.
With your help, the American Association of Nurse Practitioners can increase awareness and give patients access to the home health care they deserve. Share the above message with your Members of Congress now, and email them directly to ask for their support of this legislation.
