Spotlight on NPs is a weekly article that highlights exciting achievements and activities of American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) members.
Congratulations to AANP Fellow Dr. Randolph Rasch, who was recommended to become the new nursing dean at the Michigan State University College of Nursing. If approved by the MSU Board of Trustees, his appointment would be effective July 1. Read the press release.
AANP member Megan Spradlin was featured in an article about the hospital stay that inspired her to become a nurse practitioner. “During that confusing, frightening time, there were nurses on staff who answered my questions, assuaged my fears and partnered in my care,” Ms. Spradlin said. “I thought, ‘How fulfilling that must be to be able to provide such care and comfort to a person in need.’”
AANP Tennessee State Representative, Dr. April Kapu, was mentioned in an article about the increasingly important role nurse practitioners hold in the American health care system. Advanced practice nursing degrees are perceived as a path to leadership, according to The Tennessean.
Elizabeth Terhune, an AANP member, described her path to becoming a nurse practitioner in an article by the University of Massachusetts Medical School. During a commencement ceremony May 31, Ms. Terhune will be the class speaker for the UMass Graduate School of Nursing Class of 2015, of which she is a member.
